A geothermal energy project in Framingham, Massachusetts, is making progress in its aim to provide sustainable heating and cooling to customers in the area with the help of International Drilling Equipment, specifically our own Timothy Brown.

WCVB Channel 5’s A.J. Burnett shed light on the geothermal energy project spearheaded Eversource Energy. The ground-breaking project aims to connect approximately 140 customers in a geothermal energy loop, enabling them to utilize sustainable heating and cooling solutions.

However, the project has encountered a challenge due to the heavy rainfall during the summer. The drilling process is now producing approximately 20 gallons of groundwater per minute, which is a significant increase compared to last fall.

Despite this issue, the project remains on track, with plans to drill a total of nearly 90 holes at depths of 600-700 feet around the loop. The system is expected to be operational in time for the upcoming heating season.

IDE takes great pride in being able to supply our customers with top-quality equipment for geothermal projects, just like this one. We are honored to play a role in enabling our customers to make a positive impact on the world by embracing sustainable energy solutions. By providing them with reliable and efficient equipment, we are supporting their efforts to promote environmental responsibility and contribute to a greener future.
