Carlos has been a Service Technician with IDE for what will be 8 years this upcoming August. We are so grateful for Carlos for his hard work, dedication, drive, and willingness to help others. Learn more about Carlos below!

What is your favorite part about working at IDE?

“I like getting to learn something new every day. I also like to be able to meet new people and see all kinds of new places while I’m working.”

What do you think makes you unique as a team member?

“I think I am unique because I’m spontaneous and really ‘go with the flow’. I’m able to adapt to new or changing plans pretty easily, and that helps a lot with my position because we don’t always know where we will be needed.”

What do you enjoy most about your job, and what are some of the challenges you face?

“I like to be challenged. We are always learning new things about equipment and technology, which I really like. The biggest challenge I face in my position is that I have to be able to learn about the new and changing technology and how the industry evolves over time.”

Can you share a project or accomplishment that you’re particularly proud of that you worked on during your time here?

“I got to be part of a Rigid Inclusions project, so we were there from start to finish on a job that had all IDE equipment. I liked being a big part of that project and having that large responsibility.”

How do you stay motivated and engaged in your work, and what advice would you give to others who are struggling with motivation?

“It sounds funny, but I always try to have a trip or vacation planned, and that helps me stay motivated at the office. One thing I think that has also helped me recently at IDE is how much we are growing and how the company is expanding. It makes me really excited to think about what we will be able to do in the future. One thing I do that I think you have to do if you’re struggling to stay motivated is set several short-term goals. That helps me keep going day-to-day.”

How does IDE support your professional development, and what opportunities have you taken advantage of?

“IDE is really great about staying up to date with our manufacturer’s updates and our software training. They make sure we know all about the equipment and are comfortable talking with customers about the equipment they have. IDE does a great job utilizing the wealth of knowledge and making sure we feel good about the work we do.”

How do you collaborate with your colleagues and team members, and what qualities do you think are essential for effective teamwork?

“I think communication is huge. I really like to be open to conversations with my team members and everyone in the office. I like to talk with people in person as much as possible to make sure we keep a good, strong team. I think that when you’re on a team you have to learn what people’s strengths and assets are so you can work with them in the best way possible. I like to use my team members as resources with their knowledge and I like to think I am a resource to them too.”

How do you balance your work responsibilities with your personal life, and what strategies do you use to maintain that balance?

“I try to plan ahead as much as I can or make a loose plan for when I think I will have free time and won’t be traveling. I think that helps me a lot to make sure on my days off I am taking advantage of my personal time.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

“I love fishing and doing everything outdoors with my family. We really like going camping and seeing live music or shows too.”

What is something you are proud of about yourself?

“I am really proud of how far I have grown at IDE and how much I’ve learned. Since it is a niche industry, there are always new things to learn and I think I do a really good job staying up to date and learning new things all the time.”

If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be and why?

“I would say either Switzerland or Singapore. I like to learn about how different people have different ways of life and I think those places would be something different for me to see.”
