What is your favorite part about working at IDE?

It’s honestly hard to pinpoint just one part to call my ‘favorite’ because there are so many perks to working here, but just to name a few:

IDE takes very good care of their employees. Starting from their benefit packages all the way to their open-door policy.

The atmosphere is laid back, which makes coming to work and doing your job a lot less stressful.

The extended flexibility & ability to telecommute in the event of sickness or a personal matter.

What do you think makes you unique as a team member?

I am committed to my team, reliable, eager to learn, and hold myself accountable for my own mistakes.

What do you enjoy most about your job, and what are some of the challenges you face?

I enjoy tackling the difficult tasks that my job sometimes brings me, as well as the autonomy & control over my work. One of the biggest challenges I face and will probably always struggle with is delegating. I have a hard time asking for help which typically leads me to challenges with time management and prioritizing.

How do you stay motivated and engaged in your work, and what advice would you give to others who are struggling with motivation?

‘To-do lists’ seem to motivate me the most. I am very ambitious, so my mindset is to accomplish every task on my list before I leave for the day. Otherwise, I leave feeling defeated. Somedays, that’s just not possible, despite my best efforts. I had to learn to overcome that feeling and start setting realistic goals for myself. Learning how to prioritize (On a professional & personal level), setting a daily routine, and pacing myself, have been the most essential steps in helping me stay engaged in my work. My best advice to others who may be struggling is to try the same methods. If that doesn’t work, then try talking and collaborating with their manager or possibly a co-worker. Outside perspective and advice can often be valuable tool.

How does IDE support your professional development, and what opportunities have you taken advantage of?

IDE provided me the opportunity to travel and attend the equipment trade show, Conexpo, in 2017. From this experience, I was able to gain further knowledge & understanding of the products that we distribute, alongside the products of our competitors. I was also able to put faces with the names of our suppliers, and even some of our customers, whom I have the pleasure of dealing with on a daily/weekly basis. I was also granted the opportunity to attend classes to become a public notary, which IDE supported & funded on my behalf.

How do you collaborate with your colleagues and team members, and what qualities do you think are essential for effective teamwork?

My team collaboration often consists of morning meetings in person, and/or via teams, where we discuss our tasks for the day, voice any concerns we may have, or simply ask for help on a current or upcoming task. I’d have to say that essential qualities for effective teamwork are Communication, Open-Mindedness/Listening & Problem-Solving.

How do you balance your work responsibilities with your personal life, and what strategies do you use to maintain that balance?

Setting routines by leaving work around the same time each day and leaving for lunch to take care of personal matters or to just decompress.

Setting boundaries by not engaging in work on personal time, or personal matters on work time, unless absolutely necessary.

Utilizing the company benefits by taking PTO time whether it be for vacation or to handle personal issues.

Communicate thoroughly with co-workers, managers, spouse, children, family, and anyone that is directly affected by my decisions.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Racing, Camping, and Spending time with family & friends.

What is something that you are proud of about yourself?

My work ethic and determination.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be and why?

I would have to say Japan. I would love to experience the scenery, culture, food & history.
